Danish sprinter Magnus Cort completed his hat-trick at the O Gran Camiño race when he won the fifth and final stage as he pulled off a powerful sprint in a similar manner to his victory on the second stage and raced clear of the peloton to take the final win at Santiago de Compostela.

Cort’s three stage wins – on stages one, two and five – was enough for him to claim the points' jersey as well as the third place in the overall standings, behind Canadian Derek Gee (Israel PremierTech) and Davide Piganzoli (Polti VisitMalta).

Gee, who laid the ground for his overall win on the time trial of the third stage, finished the race a comfortable 35 seconds ahead of the Italian and 38 ahead of Cort.

"I'm super happy," Gee said after the stage. "You know the legs are good but it's never over until you finish the last stage, so there was a lot of relief crossing that line.

"All week the team's been fantastic, they're super strong and they kept me super safe. In the end my job was pretty easy - not physically, but they made it as easy as possible!"

After a series of early attacks on Sundays's stage, nine riders eventually formed a breakaway, but with 10 km left of the race all riders had gradually been brought back by the peloton and when Cort launched his sprint with the goal line approaching, no one was able to stay on his wheel and he could easily claim his third stage win of the race.
