"It is fantastic that the format allows Denmark and Portugal to play in a quarter-final. In Copenhagen they deserved more goals, but today (Sunday, ed.) they deserved perhaps less. But you get a match like this when two teams go for it", says Roberto Martínez to TV 2 Sport.
"Great respect for the coach of the Danish team and all the players. It is a very difficult opponent and they play with confidence. We have seen more than 180 minutes of high-level football."
Martinez was also very impressed by the the tactics by which Danish national team coach Brian Riemer approached the game.
"The coach's ideas and tactics agree very well with my way of playing and thinking about football, so it was good to have two teams that wanted to attack, and in the end it ended in extra time. I wish Denmark all the best and I hope we can also meet in the future because these are very entertaining matches", said Martinez.
The Final 4 of the tournament is scheduled to take place from 4-8 June in Germany.
