Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray have reportedly opened the hunt for Ajax defender Ahmetcan Kaplan.

The 22-year-old Kaplan arrived at Ajax in 2022 after completing a move worth about €10 million from Super Lig side Trabzonspor. A serious injury prevented Kaplan from making his senior debut for the famous Amsterdam club and has limited his production in the Netherlands to just 25 games in three years.

According to the usually reliable Yagiz Sabuncuoglu, Turkish champions Galatasaray are eyeing the Turkish youth international. Kaplan played a mere 15 games across all competitions last season after manager Francesco Farioli claimed the Turkish centre-half lacked fitness.

Kaplan is reportedly seriously considering leaving Ajax and returning to his native Türkiye. The Turkish talent is under contract through the 2026/27 season in Amsterdam. The defender is "positive" about Galatasaray, Sabuncuoglu said on the Sports Digitale YouTube channel.
