Impressive performances from African players played a pivotal role in securing crucial results for their respective clubs.

England

Idrissa Gueye was dramatically sent off for Everton after appearing to strike Michael Keane during their 1-0 Premier League win at Manchester United

Moments after the hosts went close to scoring, the Senegal international angrily confronted his team-mate and seemed to lash out, prompting referee Tony Harrington to show an immediate red card just 13 minutes into the match.

Despite the early setback, David Moyes’ men produced a resilient defensive display, containing the Red Devils throughout the second half as they ultimately secured a hard-fought three points at Old Trafford.

Italy

M’Bala Nzola’s early penalty set the tone for a dramatic finish as Pisa were denied their first Serie A away win in 34 years, with Kristian Thorstvedt rescuing a 2-2 draw for Sassuolo.

The Angola international converted after a VAR-awarded spot-kick just seconds into the match, however, the hosts levelled matters almost immediately through Nemanja Matić’s first-time volley.

Pisa created chances through Matteo Tramoni, while Sassuolo threatened through Andrea Pinamonti after halftime.

Super-sub Henrik Meister looked to have sealed the win when his deflected strike made it 2-1 in the 81st minute, but Sassuolo shared points in stoppage time through Thorstvedt.

In another Serie A fixture, Jayden Addai inspired Como’s rise into the Italian top-flight top six with a brace in a commanding 5-1 win at Torino.

The Ghana prospect opened the scoring in the 36th minute, finishing from close range thanks to a fine work by Jesus Rodriguez

Although Nikola Vlasic levelled from the spot before halftime for the hosts, Cesc Fabregas’ team regained control early in the second half when Addai doubled his advantage with a low strike from distance.

They increased their lead as Jacobo Ramon headed in Maximo Perrone’s delivery, before Nico Paz added a fourth. Substitute Martin Baturina capped the victory as Como secured their fifth straight unbeaten run away from home.

Germany

Nicolas Jackson came off the bench to complete Bayern Munich’s 6-2 triumph over Freiburg at the Allianz Arena.

The visitors had taken a two-goal lead against the Bavarians through Yuito Suzuki and Johan Manzambi, both scoring from Jan-Niklas Beste’s corners.

However, Vincent Kompany’s men responded through Lennart Karl and a fierce Michael Olise strike before halftime.

After the break, Dayot Upamecano turned in an Olise corner, and Harry Kane made it 4-2 with a powerful finish.

Senegal international Jackson then replaced the injured Karl and needed only minutes to score, calmly converting from Olise’s assist in the eight-goal thriller.

Edmond Tapsoba powered home a fine header as Bayer Leverkusen demolished 3-1 at the Volkswagen Arena.

The visitors, unbeaten in eight Bundesliga meetings with Die Wolfe, struck early when Ernest Poku and Alejandro Grimaldo combined down the left, allowing Jonas Hofmann to drill home the opener.

Wolfsburg responded through Lovro Majer, but Leverkusen doubled their lead as Burkina Faso star Tapsoba rose highest to meet Aleix García’s superb cross.

Malik Tillman then coolly beat the offside trap to make it 3-0 before halftime. The home team improved after the break and pulled one back through Denis Vavro’s header.

Following the defeat, Wolfsburg risk slipping into the relegation zone after a fourth straight defeat.

France

Aissa Mandi was among the scorers as Lille recorded a hard-fought 4-2 win over Paris FC.

The Algerian international headed into an empty net after taking advantage of Kevin Trapp’s misjudged attempt to claim a corner.

Former France international Olivier Giroud had ended his two-month goal drought with a brace to overturn Willem Geubbels’ early opener.

After Paris FC took an 11th-minute lead, Lille responded strongly, with Giroud levelling before halftime from Romain Perraud’s clever pull-back. The striker then restored the advantage from the penalty spot after Hakon Haraldsson was fouled.

Thanks to the result, Lille secured all three points with a late penalty converted by Marius Broholm, climbing into the top four while Paris slipped closer to relegation danger.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal and assists inspired Marseille to a commanding 5-1 derby win over Nice.

The Gabonese striker opened the scoring after 11 minutes, reacting sharply at the far post from a corner.

His team doubled their advantage just past the half-hour mark when Mason Greenwood’s deflected effort wrong-footed the goalkeeper.

Although Nice threatened through Terem Moffi, Jeffrey de Lange twice denied him before the break. A few minutes into the second half, Greenwood curled in his second to tighten Marseille’s grip.

Aubameyang also assisted Timothy Weah and Igor Paixao to inspire Marseille to an emphatic away victory.
