Liverpool are already ruthless, with a fourth win in four Premier League games, while their rivals are still struggling. Across the Channel, Ethan Mbappe opened his professional account with Lille, while his older brother delighted Real Madrid fans once again.

Winners: Liverpool

With 12 points from a possible 12, the Reds are ideally placed to retain their Premier League crown between now and next spring. Of course, there are still many months of competition left, and any scenario is possible. But there is no doubt that the reigning champions will be the team to beat.

Arne Slot's men dominated Burnley on Sunday, but it took them a while to make the difference. It took Mohamed Salah's penalty to seal all three points. It was a relief for the Reds, who were rewarded in the dying moments.

Once again, the win was proof of their unfailing mental strength. And it's not the first time they've managed to snatch victory late on. Like Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United, Slot's Liverpool know how to be clutch.

Never before has a Premier League team managed to win four games in a row thanks to a winning goal in the last 10 minutes.

Losers: Manchester United

For the Red Devils, it's looking grim. They, too, are part of the record books, having not had such a poor start to the season for 33 years.

Beaten 3-0 by rivals Manchester City on Sunday, Ruben Amorim's team are in 14th place after four games. With four points on the board, progress is still clearly not there, and this is inevitably seeing tensions heightened. All observers will agree that the Portuguese coach is on borrowed time.

With a forthcoming fixture against Chelsea, the fixture list is not doing United any favours and could prolong the depression.

Winners: Ethan and Kylian Mbappe

It was probably the best story of the weekend in Ligue 1, as the youngest member of the Mbappe family, Ethan, gave his team victory on Sunday. Thanks to a cross from the far post, the 18-year-old midfielder helped Lille climb back up to second place in the table. For him, it was a moment of celebration, as he had never scored in the professional world before.

That is obviously not the case for his older brother, who showed off his talent on Saturday afternoon at Real Sociedad. The Real Madrid striker opened the scoring 12 minutes into the game, before turning in a decisive assist for Arda Guler.

All this while being reduced to ten against eleven. As a result, Mbappe and the Madrilenians are firmly entrenched at the top of LaLiga thanks to a clean sheet (12 out of 12), determined to keep it there for as long as possible.

Loser: Marcus Thuram

It's not often that two brothers clash on a pitch, let alone in a derby. Yet that is exactly what has been going on in the Serie A between Inter and Juventus for just over a year now.

On Saturday, Kephren welcomed Marcus to the Allianz Stadium in an important match as the two teams battled for top honours. As in February, it was Juve who prevailed - but this time in style. It finished 4-3 thanks to an injury-time goal from 19-year-old Montenegrin Vasilije Adzic, the Bianconeri followed Napoli's lead with nine points from three games.

But what interests us this Monday is the fact that Marcus Thuram scored Inter's third goal (76th), before his brother equalised seven minutes later! So it was the 24-year-old midfielder who emerged victorious from this duel - despite the two men lining up at kick-off for the first time in their head-to-head.

Winner: Bayern Munich

Who can stop the Bavarians? Probably nobody at the start of the season, as they seem so relentless. With Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Diaz and Serge Gnabry, Vincent Kompany's attacking quartet is very impressive.

For the first time in seven years, Bayern met Hamburg at the Allianz Arena and, as in the last decade, the Rekordmeister did their historic rivals no favours. 5-0, the goals are raining down after three rounds of Bundesliga action.

On Wednesday, it's Chelsea who travel to the Allianz Arena as part of the opening round of the Champions League, and the whole of Europe is probably looking forward to this clash.

The question is, how far will this Bayern Munich team go?

Loser: Valencia

Our final loser of the weekend is none other than Spanish club Valencia, who suffered a slap in the face at Barcelona: 6-0. And it could become a habit if the statistics are anything to go by. Last January, the Blaugrana had already beaten the Ché club by a six-goal margin (7-1).

And, generally speaking, Valencia have a poor record in Catalonia. To find evidence of a draw, you have to go back to 2020 (2-2), while for a win, you have to go back almost 10 years (2-1).

Even though Carlos Corberan's side picked up their first win of the season against Getafe before the international break, their 2025-2026 campaign is still shaping up to be a difficult one...
