There was space in the busy football calendar for some midweek Premier League action and we were not left disappointed.

League leaders Liverpool were stifled in a 1-1 draw at high-flying Nottingham Forest leaving the door a little open for Arsenal, who closed in with a 2-1 win in the North London derby against Tottenham.

Chelsea were also held to a 2-2 draw by Bournemouth, Manchester City suffered the same scoreline at Brentford and there were wins for both Newcastle and Manchester United.

Now, Flashscore selects its Premier League Team of the Week!

Goalkeeper

Martin Dubravka, 8.4 (Newcastle)

While Martin Dubravka's Newcastle future remains up in the air, he didn't let it distract him as he backstopped a clean sheet in the win over Wolves.

The Slovakian goalkeeper saved all seven shots he faced as the Magpies clocked up their sixth straight Premier League win.

Defence

Reece James, 7.9 (Chelsea)

The returning Reece James came up with the goods late into Chelsea's game against Bournemouth to rescue his side a point at home.

The Blues captain was subbed on in the second half and helped earn his team a draw with a fantastic whipped free-kick.

Marc Guehi, 8.2 (Crystal Palace)

Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi put in a skipper's display as the Eagles downed Leicester 2-0 away from home.

The 24-year-old made five clearances and won five duels alongside scoring in the win – a well-taken volley into the roof of the net at the back post.

Antonee Robinson, 7.9 (Fulham)

Antonee Robinson made it nine assists for the season after adding two in Fulham's eventual 3-2 defeat at West Ham.

They both came in strange circumstances, though, as his passes to Alex Iwobi turned into assists after the Nigerian's crosses found their way into the net.

Midfield

Amad Diallo, 9.9 (Manchester United)

Amad Diallo exploded with a stunning late hat-trick to ensure Manchester United turned things around to defeat Southampton.

Amad's equalised in the 82nd minute then netted after exchanging a give-and-go with Christian Eriksen.

The 22-year-old completed his treble in stoppage time to cap off an eventual memorable night at Old Trafford.

Christian Norgaard, 8.2 (Brentford)

Christian Norgaard helped Brentford rescue a point in their hectic draw at home to still-spluttering Manchester City.

The Bees captain won seven duels and made three clearances in the match but most importantly netted the stoppage-time equaliser after leaping to head in.

Kevin De Bruyne, 8.2 (Manchester City)

Kevin De Bruyne looked like his usual self despite City's capitulation at Brentford's Gtech Community Stadium.

The Belgian created a game-high eight chances and recorded the assist for Phil Foden's opener with a delightful cross in from the right wing.

Alex Iwobi, 8.5 (Fulham)

Iwobi tallied possibly the strangest two goals we'll see all season against West Ham, although they came to no avail for Fulham.

Iwobi whipped in two crosses into the danger area and both bounced into the net past goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, who couldn't get close to either.

Forwards

Phil Foden, 8.7 (Manchester City)

Phil Foden looked more like his old self in midweek but his two goals still did not prevent City from chucking away the points at Brentford.

His first goal was an instinctive touch into the net and he stayed alert for his second of the game with a cool finish in the box.

Alexander Isak, 8.7 (Newcastle)

The Premier League's most in-form player Alexander Isak is seeing his hot streak continue, coming away from Newcastle's win over Wolves with two goals and an assist.

Isak's double at St James' Park made it eight straight games with a goal for the Swedish striker, which broke Alan Shearer's record of seven on the spin in 1996.

Anthony Gordon, 8.2 (Newcastle)

Isak of course continued to link up well with partner in crime Anthony Gordon, who netted for the fourth game in a row in all competitions.

The 23-year-old, who completed a game-high seven dribbles and won 11 duels, added Newcastle's third goal after finishing with relative ease into the corner.
