Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has spoken to the press as he prepares to face Brentford.

City dropped points against Everton earlier this week and handed Arsenal a huge advantage at the top of the table as their title rivals are now five points clear.

Guardiola’s side are unbeaten in their last 15 Premier League fixtures at the Etihad but cannot afford to drop any more points this weekend if they want to remain title challengers.

Rodri to return this weekend?

The Citizens have been victorious in six of their nine Premier League meetings with Brentford, winning four of their past five. Guardiola will hope to get back to winning ways as he spoke on Rodri, who has missed Man City’s last three games in all competitions with a groin injury.

“We will see this afternoon. We have survived without him for many months. He doesn't feel completely comfortable. We do not depend on Rodri not being there.”

Guardiola would love to see Gvardiol stay

Continuing on the theme of potential returns to the squad for the final few games of the season, Guardiola also touched upon Josko Gvardiol, who says he would love to see him stay past the summer.

"He is training. It has been many months. He has been an important player for us. Glad he is back and will make a good World Cup. Next season, we can have him at his best. He plays so fast, so quick, like Ruben as well.

"I have no info (on his contract). I would love Gvardiol to stay here."

Pressure can still be placed on Arsenal

City's 3-3 draw with Everton would have been devastating for Guardiola, especially when the first goal came when Marc Guehi gave the ball away so easily. The Spanish coach commented on such a dire mistake and how the title race is still alive.

"He knows he made a mistake, but it is part of the game.

"It has been a long time since the Arsenal game. I love to play at home, hopefully we can put pressure on Arsenal."
