Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has spoken to the media as he prepares to face Everton.

The Red Devils are seventh in the Premier League table, two points behind third-placed Chelsea and level on points with champions Liverpool. United have won four and lost one of their five home Premier League matches this season, and welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Monday night.

Sesko out

Amorim was first asked about forward Benjamin Sesko who he says will be out for a number of weeks.

“He is going to stay a few weeks out. I don't know how long, but it is not that serious," said the coach.

We have to be careful with him. He's going to recover, he's feeling better, so in a few weeks, I expect to have Ben."

Next, Amorim moved on to team news and first spoke on Harry Maguire and Kobbie Mainoo

“Maguire is not ready, Kobbie didn't train today but we could see him tomorrow.”

AFCON impact

Questions next turned to AFCON, which starts next month.

Players can start to leave their clubs to join their national sides up to two weeks beforehand, with United set to lose Bryan Mbeumo, Noussair Mazraoui and Amad Diallo.

"We have rules when we have to release players. We are trying to keep them a little longer but not in our hands. It will be two weeks before the start," said Amorim.

"There is an opportunity for other players," he added. "We have also the under-21s...

"We will see, but of course it is not ideal, because they are so important in our team and we don't have a long squad."

Amorim's one-year anniversary

Amorim was finally asked about his one-year anniversary at the club and reflected on how he struggled in his first season in charge.

"It was moving very fast.  The first thinking was that in the first game the environment was completely different in the Premier League," he said.

"There was a feeling that it was the best league in the world and was maybe the best club in the world, but at the same time that it's a big job and is going to require a lot of work."
