A slightly trimmed-down third round of the Dutch Eredivisie has been concluded. Who paved the way for NEC's third-straight win? And who fueled Sparta's shocking 3-0 win?

As Feyenoord and AZ enjoyed weekends off, as well as Fortuna Sittard and PEC Zwolle, NEC held onto the top spot with another dashing win, pummeling NAC Breda 3-0. Elsewhere, Sparta shocked Europa League outfit Go Ahead Eagles by claiming a 3-0 away win, and FC Utrecht got back to winning ways by beating Excelsior 4-1.

But who carried these teams to success? Here are this weekend's eleven best performers from the Eredivisie, according to Flashscore's rating system.

GK: Joel Drommel (Sparta) - 8.7

After a more than shaky start to the season, Joel Drommel showcased his qualities against Go Ahead Eagles in Sparta's convincing 3-0 win in Deventer.

The home side were dominant and accumulated an xG of 2.60, but could not find their way past Drommel - the 28-year-old notched five saves, including one on Mats Deijl's penalty.

DEF: Souffian El Karouani (FC Utrecht) - 9.2

Spartak Moscow have reportedly submitted a bid worth up to €5 million for El Karouani, and it's easy to see why.

The attacking-minded left-back provided not one, not two, but three assists during Utrecht's 4-1 win over Excelsior. The Moroccan delivered a perfect cross from a corner for the opener of Miguel Rodriguez, did the same from open play for David Min's 2-0, and played a perfect deep ball with his non-dominant right foot to Victor Jensen for the 3-0.

72 touches, six completed crosses, four won duels, one won tackle, and two clearances top El Karouani's spectacular game - perhaps his last in Utrecht's red-and-white.

DEF: Bruno Martins Indi (Sparta) - 8.1

The second Spartan in this week's Team of the Week is captain and former Dutch international Bruno Martins Indi, who was more than vital in Sparta's defence.

The World Cup bronze medalist notched a 100% win rate from aerial and ground duels (9/9), won both of his two attempted tackles, intercepted two balls, and recorded a rather impressive 14 clearances against Go Ahead Eagles. Leading by example.

DEF: Yarek Gasiorowski (PSV) - 7.7

The Spaniard joined PSV this summer from Valencia and is wasting no time making a name for himself.

The reigning Eredivisie champions conceded two goals in a home game for the first time since last season's 2-0 loss against Ajax, but hardly any of it was down to Gasiorowski. The Valencia native recorded 104 touches and completed 88% of his 75 passes, but most of all, won eight of his nine duels, intercepted two balls, and notched eight clearances.

DEF: Patrick van Aanholt (Sparta) - 8.5

It seems like yesterday that Van Aanholt was one of the first additions to your Fantasy Premier League squad, back when he impressed for Crystal Palace and Sunderland. Now, however, it's Sparta Rotterdam who get to enjoy the final years of Van Aanholt's career.

The left-back was impeccable in Sparta's build-up and accounted for the assist to Teo Quintero's 3-0 against Go Ahead Eagles. Van Aanholt completed 26 of his 27 attempted passes, recorded a 100% pass completion rate in the final third, won two of his three duels, and completely shut the Eagles' right wing down.

MID: Tjaronn Chery (NEC) - 8.5

Although he's 37 years old by now, Tjaronn Chery shows no signs of slowing down. Something he proved once again as NEC continued their brilliant start to the new Eredivisie season.

In their 3-0 win over NAC Breda, Chery opened the show with a clever penalty that even fooled the ESPN crew. His penalty was one of his five attempts against NAC, four of which went on goal. Chery accumulated an xG of 1.03, conceded four fouls, 45 touches, and won four of his six duels.

MID: Victor Jensen (FC Utrecht) - 8.0

Few players have had a better start to their season than FC Utrecht's Victor Jensen. The Danish midfielder has scored five goals in as many European outings, scored three goals in as many Eredivisie games, and has now also received a call-up for the Danish national side.

That's just what happens when you keep playing at a high level. Against Excelsior, Jensen was vital yet again with two second-half goals as Utrecht beat the Rotterdam outfit 4-1. Jensen, who almost plays as a shadow striker, scored with his only attempts of the match and recorded just three touches in the opposition's box, but made them worth it.

MID: Steven Berghuis (Ajax) - 9.5 (PotW)

Some doubted the impact Steven Berghuis could have on Ajax in his age-33 season, but during his side's 2-0 win over Heracles Almelo, the veteran showed he still has plenty left in the tank.

The winger-turned-midfielder opened the scoring in the first half and attempted five shots on Sunday, accumulating an xG of 0.51. But besides having scoring impact, Berghuis was crucial in the build-up, too. He created four chances, delivered 25 passes in the final third (with 96% accuracy), led Ajax in final third entries with nearly double the amount of the next closest player (9), and lost the ball just six times on 68 touches.

A stellar performance from the man who has created the second-most chances in the Eredivisie (11) has thoroughly earned Steven Berghuis his first Player of the Week award of the season.

FW: Anthony Descotte (FC Volendam) - 9.1

Last week, we saw Kento Shiogai have a massive impact for NEC in their 5-1 win over Heracles Almelo. This week, Anthony Descotte thought he'd kindly improve on Shiogai's effort.

With the score in the Fisherman's Derby between Telstar and FC Volendam set at 2-0 in favour of the home side, FC Volendam manager Rick Kruys gave Charleroi loanee Anthony Descotte his first minutes of the season. The Belgian winger completely turned the game around as he scored a brace within his first 22 minutes in the orange jersey.

Descotte personally earned Volendam a second draw in a row, and one which looked highly unlikely before the 60th minute.

FW: Tobias Lauritsen (Sparta) - 8.6

The final Spartan in the latest Team of the Week is none other than attacking focal point Tobias Lauritsen. The Norwegian striker did it all against Go Ahead Eagles with a goal and an assist to his name, but did more than just that, too.

Lauritsen took part in 19 duels, of which he won nine, created one big chance, and was fouled twice by the Eagles. Lauritsen was vital in Sparta's surprising 3-0 win, and it earns him a spot in our Team of the Week.

FW: Esmir Bajraktarevic (PSV) - 9.4

Substitutes can have such a big impact, can't they?

American-Bosnian winger Esmir Bajraktarevic joined PSV in January 2025 from New England Revolution, but had trouble breaking into the first team with so many quality wingers ahead of him. Against FC Groningen, however, the 20-year-old showed he's here to beat them all.

Bajraktarevic replaced Dennis Man, who PSV bought for €8.5 million from Parma, during halftime and made the most of his cameo with two goals, three shots on target, five won dribbles, seven won duels, and 31 touches. The youngster was a handful for Groningen, who will not forget him soon after their 4-2 defeat.
