Storm Darragh is set to rip through many parts of Britain, with winds up to 90mph causing disruption throughout mainly Wales and England.

The Welsh FA has taken the decision to postpone all football matches on Saturday, December 7th, in the country.

A statement said: "The Met Office has issued red, amber, and yellow weather warnings for the vast majority of Wales due to Storm Darragh, which is expected to bring damaging winds and heavy rain, causing significant disruption and danger to life.

"It is not safe to drive in such weather, including travelling to and from football matches. Being outside in high winds increases the risk of injury and The Met Office advises people to stay indoors if possible."

The Championship match between Cardiff and Watford, set to be held in the Welsh capital, has been postponed.

Another second-tier match, between Plymouth and Oxford, to be held on the south-west coast of England, has also been cancelled.

As per the Welsh FA's decision, Newport's match with Carlisle in League Two has also been postponed.

Additionally, all rugby union matches have been cancelled in Wales.

Saturday's Merseyside Derby, between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park, is also under threat.

The Premier League clubs issued a joint statement on Friday night, warning fans to be vigilant ahead of the 12:30 GMT kick-off.

"An amber severe wind warning has been issued by the Met Office for Merseyside from 1 am (GMT) on Saturday, with wind gusts of 60mph to 70mph likely. The warning for wind is expected to remain in place until 6 am on Sunday.

"Given the weather warning, fans are advised to allow extra time for their journey and take extra care.

"Supporters are also advised to keep a close eye on travel and weather guidance in their area to assist with travel planning for the Premier League fixture."

Talks remain ongoing between Liverpool, Everton, Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council regarding the potential impacts of storm Darragh.

As of the time of writing, both clubs are expecting the match to go ahead.
