Another week of European cup action has arrived but with so many matches to choose from, what should you watch? In what follows, we've picked out five of the best for you from the UEFA Champions League, Europa League and Conference League combined.

Tuesday, December 10th

Atalanta vs Real Madrid - 21:00 CET

When you think of a match-up like Atalanta vs Real Madrid, you'd be forgiven for assuming the latter side would go in as the firm favourite. That won't be quite the case when the sides meet in Bergamo on Tuesday in one of the more fascinating Champions League clashes of the sixth round.

That is because Atalanta are flying high on all fronts and currently find themselves on a nine-match winning run and an incredible 14-match unbeaten streak. What's more, they are fifth in the Champions League standings and still unbeaten in the competition this season.

Real are not in the worst form, they have clawed their way back into the title chase domestically, but have been far from convincing in the Champions League so far, losing to leaders Liverpool, AC Milan and Lille already. As a result, Carlo Ancelotti's side desperately need a win to ensure a playoff place.

Unfortunately for the Champions League holders, facing Gian Piero Gasperini's La Dea just happens to be one of the trickiest assignments in world football right now...

Bayer Leverkusen vs Inter Milan - 21:00 CET

The second standout fixture on Tuesday evening sees German champions Bayer Leverkusen host Italian champions Inter Milan. It's a clash of champions and a meeting between two of the better sides in the competition, both of which will be keen to cement their top-eight status.

Inter are one of just three sides that remain unbeaten in the Champions League this season - along with Liverpool and Atalanta. What's more, Simone Inzaghi's side haven't lost since the Milan derby back in September.

Xabi Alonso's Bayer side will be thus very wary of their opponents but can boast good recent form as well - they arrive at this match on a five-match winning run. That streak includes their last Champions League clash - a 5-0 thrashing of Salzburg.

This may not quite be the season Bayer fans would have hoped for after their record-breaking 2023/24 but just as Inter are in fine form, the Italian side will be well aware that their hosts haven't lost at the BayArena since August.

Fenerbahce vs Athletic Club - 16:30 CET

The most intriguing clash of the Europa League this week actually takes place a day before all the others in the sixth round with Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce hosting Athletic Club in Istanbul on Wednesday afternoon.

Ernesto Valverde's Athletic are one of Spain's form teams at the moment - they have not lost in 11 matches and stunned Real Madrid last week. What's more, they boast an impressive record in the Europa League, sitting level-top with Lazio and Eintracht Frankfurt on 13 points.

Fenerbahce, on the other hand, are down in the mid-table of the league but got back to winning ways last round away at Slavia Prague. Since that result, Fener have lost a derby (against Besiktas), however, and will thus be under pressure to get a result at home.

It's not a given that Fener will play free-flowing football but it is always a given that there will be entertainment with Mourinho on the sidelines, not to mention one of Europe's in-form sides looking for another huge scalp.

Dortmund vs Barcelona - 21:00 CET

Moving back to the Champions League, Wednesday evening offers plenty with Dortmund vs Barcelona one of the more mouthwatering matches of the round. Despite recent domestic wobbles, both of these sides are right up at the top of the table and looking good for top-eight finishes.

Dortmund have been particularly inconsistent this season under new boss Nuri Sahin. They are outside the top five in Germany and their season has been marked by some terrible domestic slip-ups. In Europe, however, they have been good, losing only to Real Madrid (5-2) in what was a thoroughly enjoyable match for the neutral if not their adoring fans.

Barcelona, meanwhile, were flying under Hansi Flick in the early months of the season but have endured trickier times of late, stumbling to a couple of shock defeats in Spain. Continentally, they have been largely untroubled but will want another win to dispel any doubts.

At their best, both these sides offer plenty of attacking flair and they are the two top-scoring sides in the Champions League so far. In front of a packed Signal Iduna Park, this could be a cracker.

Juventus vs Manchester City - 21:00 CET

The pressure mounting on Manchester City and their manager Pep Guardiola is well documented and, importantly, has not relented with the Premier League champions dropping more points over the weekend in England. Desperately in need of a win (again), they will face one of Europe's tightest defences in the form of Juventus on Wednesday.

Thiago Motta's young side have been extremely good at withstanding attacks this season - they have not lost a single match in Serie A yet and have only been beaten once in the Champions League. Despite those eye-catching facts, they find themselves outside the top five in Italy and the top 10 in Europe. But why? Well, because they aren't so good at scoring or winning.

Currently on a run of four consecutive stalemates, Juve are the draw kings of Europe. But you can bet, Guardiola would have taken that record over City's current run of one win in nine.

This clash has all the ingredients to be a tight, tactical affair in Turin but that's not to say it won't be intriguing. So long as the pressure is cranked up on City, they are compelling viewing in all situations.
