Bayer Leverkusen and PSV shared the points after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in the UEFA Champions League at the BayArena.

With Ricardo Pepi, Myron Boadu, and Alassane Plea all out due to injury, Guus Til started as PSV's lone striker against Kasper Hjulmand's Bayer Leverkusen, who have not lost under the new Danish manager.

At Leverkusen, Christian Michel Kofane was given his first start of the season with striker Patrick Schick and Martin Terrier both out with injuries. The Cameroonian striker started up front alongside former PSV star Malik Tillman and Netherlands U21 international Ernest Poku.

The visitors celebrated an early lead after Ivan Perisic headed PSV in front, but the Croatian veteran had his goal ruled out for an offside infringement.

An active Bayer Leverkusen created the biggest chances following PSV's misfortune and saw Malik Tillman get closest, but could not beat Bayer Leverkusen loanee Matej Kovar.

A terrible mistake in PSV's defence, who passed the ball to each other inside their own box, gave Kofane a golden opportunity to put Leverkusen in front after 65 minutes. The Cameroonian youngster stayed calm and beat Kovar at his near post for the 1-0.

After Obispo was taken off following his costly mistake, Guus Til and Ismael Saibari combined for a quick equaliser with the latter curling the ball in Mark Flekken's far corner in the 73rd minute.

PSV took the initiative as Leverkusen dropped back and tried to prevent a first loss of the UEFA Champions League season, but it was the home team who got the biggest chance in the final stages of the game. Alejandro Grimaldo went for his own success in a 3-on-1 situation, however, and failed to bag Leverkusen a winner.

Napoli and PSG next

PSV became the first Dutch club in European competitions to win a point, following losses for Ajax, Go Ahead Eagles, and FC Utrecht, as well as their own 3-1 loss against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise two weeks ago. The reigning Eredivisie champions continue their UEFA Champions League campaign against Napoli on October 21st.

Bayer Leverkusen extended their unbeaten streak in all competitions to six games as holders Paris Saint-Germain come to visit Leverkusen next in the Champions League.
