According to the Daily Telegraph, the four-time Premiership winner (as player and coach) is required to steer the Titans into the upcoming finals series if he is to remain at Robina Stadium beyond 2025.

Journalist Michael Carayannis revealed on Wednesday that Hasler's three-year contract with the Gold Coast Titans includes a series of performance-based KPIs, including a requirement for the club for qualify for the 2025 NRL finals series after finishing 13th or 14th in each of their three preceding seasons.

"He originally signed a three-year deal but there’s clauses in his deal and one of those is a top eight clause," Carayannis told Fox League on Wednesday evening.

"If they don’t make the top eight this year, the Titans are under no obligation to keep him at the club next year.

"When they are mathematically no chance of playing finals footy, they can split immediately."

Based on how the Titans have started 2025, that might not be too far away. Whilst they were lucky enough to scrape through into eighth place in 2021 with a 10-14 record, that season was an outlier in a decade where a 50% win rate is often the minimum required to get through.

Another two consecutive losses - away to the Newcastle Knights and Canberra Raiders before their State of Origin bye - would see Hasler statistically become the worst performing permanent Titans coach in club history.

The explosive revelation comes days after the Titans slumped to second-last on the ladder with a humiliating 20-point losscoacChris to Hasler's former employers Canterbury, prompting the 64-year-old to publicly beg his players to "stop letting the game slip away".
