Anthony launched the home run to deep right field off of starting pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano, his sixth of the year.
The rookie made his big-league debut on June 9th this season before signing an eight-year, $130 million contract extension earlier this month (read more about that here).
Anthony was slashing .279/.395/.437 with 27 RBI and four stolen bases heading into Monday's action, including a two-run home run recently in his first game at Yankee Stadium.
During his 2023 campaign in the minors, Anthony struggled in Single-A yet again - hitting .228 with just one home run in 158 at-bats. But Anthony was still called up to the A+ squad (Greenville Drive) and seemed to find his flow.
After slashing .294/.412/.569 in A+ ball with 12 homers and 38 RBI in 204 at-bats, he eventually made his way to Double-A (Portland Sea Dogs) for the remainder of the year, where he posted an incredible .343 average with a 1.020 OPS.
Then, in 2024, Anthony blossomed into the best prospect in baseball.
Following his weird trend of doing better with each level he was called up to, Anthony slashed .269/.367/.489 in Double-A with 15 homers, 45 RBI, and 16 stolen bases in 84 games - leading to his call up to Boston's Triple-A affiliate, the Worcester Red Sox, where he hit the ball even better.
Anthony finished the 2024 year in Triple-A, slashing .344/.463/.519.
Fast forward to this season, before his call-up, Anthony had remained strictly in Triple-A, where he hit .288 with a .423 on-base percentage, 10 home runs, and 29 RBI in 212 at-bats - walking 51 times to his 56 strikeouts.
