NFL All-Pro running back Nick Chubb announced his retirement on Friday via an Instagram post.

Chubb, 30, spent seven of his eight years in the NFL with the Cleveland Browns after the team selected him 35th overall in the 2018 draft.

The four-time Pro Bowler was one of the best backs in the league during his prime with the Browns. After putting up 986 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns (total: 1,145 yards, 10 TDs) in his rookie year, the same year he became the fourth player in NFL history to break 100 rushing yards on three or fewer carries in a single game, Chubb went on to post four straight 1,000-yard seasons.

He set a career-high in 2022 when he finished the season with 1,525 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns (12 rushing), earning Second-Team All-Pro honors. In his first six years, Chubb finished each season averaging over 5.0 yards per carry.

Then, in 2022, Chubb suffered a brutal left knee injury, tearing his MCL, damaging his meniscus, rupturing his medial capsule, and even needing a second surgery to repair his ACL.

Since then, Chubb played in a total of 23 games between the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He played his final year with the Houston Texans, in which he ran for 506 yards and three touchdowns in 15 games (nine starts).

Chubb finishes his career with 7,349 rushing yards and 54 rushing touchdowns on 1,462 attempts (5.0 YPC) in exactly 100 games.
