LSU signed Lane Kiffin to a seven-year deal worth up to $91 million on Sunday, with a $4 million annual value higher than what he was being paid at Ole Miss this season.

In total, Kiffin will earn $13 million per year while at LSU - the second-most in all of college football, just behind Georgia's Kirby Smart at $13.3 million.

"I'm very honoured to be the head coach of LSU," said Kiffin during Monday's press conference. "I can sum it up by saying this - this place is different. Having watched this place for a long time, having been on the other sidelines in this stadium, this place is different. And that's why we're here."

"The program here at LSU will be designed, top to bottom, to be the number one destination for elite players in all of America."

Kiffin left his job at Ole Miss after signing a contract with LSU on Sunday.

Ole Miss finished the season with an 11-1 record as they locked up the No. 7 in the 2025 College Football Playoffs. However, Kiffin will not be coaching in the game as he had already made his way to LSU after signing the contract on Sunday.

However, Kiffin claimed he was denied the opportunity to coach his team during the playoffs.

"My request to (coach the rest of the season) was denied by (Ole Miss athletic director) Keith Carter," said Kiffin in a statement. "Despite the team also asking him to allow me to keep coaching them so they could better maintain their high level of performance. Unfortunately, that means Friday's Egg Bowl was my last game coaching the Rebels."

Ole Miss took down Mississippi State 38-19 this past Friday in Kiffin's final game with the program.

The team is now left with defensive coordinator Pete Golding to take up the head coaching duties as the team gets ready for the playoffs. It'll be Golding's first head coaching experience of his entire coaching career.

"We could not be more excited to announce Pete Golding as the next head coach of the Ole Miss Rebels," said Carter in a statement. "His tenure will begin immediately as he leads our program in the pursuit of a national title. Today's team meeting was a clear indicator of his ability to galvanize our squad. All of our players and coaches are ecstatic and ready to lock arms for a playoff run."
