Frolunda's 12-match winning streak in the Swedish Hockey League has come to an end in surprising style, as the runaway league leaders were beaten 2-1 away at Linkoping, who remain outside the Playoff places.

The Gothenburg side had not lost a league game since 15th November, and few would have been expecting that run to end even after Christoffer Ehn put Linkoping ahead after 11 minutes, especially after it took less than two minutes for Tom Nilsson to level the scores for Frolunda.

If Linkoping were then meant to roll over and let Frolunda take another win, then no one told Jakub Vrana, who restored the home side's lead with a little over a minute to go in the first period.

Neither side could add further goals in a closely-fought second period, then despite registering 15 shots in the final period to Linkoping's seven, the visitors could not grind out another equaliser, and Linkoping held on for a famous 2-1 win, even if it keeps them a point outside the Playoff places.

An unlucky 13th match for Frolunda ended with their lead at the top down to 11 points, after Skelleftea were pushed hard by last-placed Leksand before eventually holding out for a 4-3 win - their third in a row.

Not only could Leksand earn rare consecutive wins, but the gap between themselves and HV 71 has grown to four points, after HV came from 4-0 down in the first period to draw level with Lulea, 5-5, before Hugo Fransson struck in overtime to give the visitors an incredible 6-5 victory.

Timra's climb back up the table has seen them reach seventh place after a 5-2 victory over Orebro, who are now just three points from safety following a fifth successive loss. Orebro are five points behind Linkoping, who trail Lulea in the final Playoff place by a single point.

Back at the top end of the standings, third-placed Rogle kept tabs on Skelleftea by winning 4-2 away at Djurgarden, who slip back to eighth, yet they are still outside the top six on goal difference following Farjestad's 2-1 loss at Malmo.

The fifth-placed Redhawks have a nine-point gap over the chasing pack and are now a point behind Vaxjo, after the Lakers lost for the second match running, 5-2 away at Brynas, who rise a place to ninth after back-to-back wins.
