Frolunda have lost back-to-back Swedish Hockey League (SHL) matches for the first time all season, as they were beaten 2-1 by Lulea for just their second home defeat in the league.

Frolunda's 11-match winning run was ended by lowly Linkoping last time out, and while Lulea may be champions, back-to-back defeats of their own made the league leaders heavy favourites to get back to winning ways in Gothenburg.

But an upset was on the cards 11 minutes in, when Otto Leskinen's deflected shot from range put the visitors in front amid successfully defending three powerplays in the first half of the match.

Things got better for Lulea late in the second period, when Linus Omark's centre was deflected in off Isac Hedqvist's skate, and following a video review, the goal stood and the away side were 2-0 up.

Three minutes in to the third, Frolunda got on the board when Max Lindholm had time on a powerplay to pick his spot, but despite leading the shots-on-target count 7-2 in the final period, Frolunda didn't do enough to force and equaliser, and Lulea took the 2-1 win.

It's Frolunda's first home defeat in the league since a 2-1 loss to Leksand on 4th October, while Lulea climb to eighth place.

What was the longest active losing run in the SHL is over after Orebro held on to beat Djurgarden 4-3 away and end their five-match streak without a win and give their survival hopes a boost.

Filip Berglund and Egor Polin goals either side of the first break but them 2-0 to the good, and though Charles Hudon got Djurgarden on the board soon after, Milton Oscarsson quickly restored the two-goal advantage.

Orebro looked to have sealed the win with five minutes of period two to go through Patrik Karlkvist, but when David Blomgren responded to make it 4-2 and Colby Sissons scored on a powerplay seven minutes into period three, the away supporters were fearing a collapse.

But Orebro held firm to record their first win since 20th December and stay 12th, while consecutive losses have seen the Stockholm side slip to ninth.

Mikkel Aagaard's winning penalty made the night better for Orebro and worse for Frolunda, as that sealed a 3-2 win for Skelleftea against HV 71, closing the gap at the top to single figures after a fourth win in a row, while HV are now five points from safety.

Dropping out of contention a few rounds ago, an upturn in form has seen Timra sail back up into the top six, as two Jonathan Dahlen goals helped them to a statement 4-1 win at home to Rogle, who stay third after a first loss in three.

Ending a two-match losing run and moving to within five points of Rogle are Vaxjo, as Karl Henriksson scored an overtime winner to hand them a 4-3 victory over Farjestad, who have slipped out of the top six following a four-match losing streak - the new longest active losing streak.

The joint-best winning run, meanwhile, belongs to fifth-placed Malmo, after they edged a 3-2 result against Brynas, who remain a point inside the Playoff places after Leksand did them a favour by beating Linkoping 3-0, as Marcus Gidlof made 19 saves in a rare shutout for the bottom side.
