The Florida Panthers are victors once again as they have now won the Stanley Cup Finals for the second straight year against the Edmonton Oilers!

Florida has now become the third team in the NHL since 2000 to win back-to-back Stanley Cups, joining the 2020-2021 Tampa Bay Lightning and 2016-2017 Pittsburgh Penguins, defeating the Oilers in six games with a 5-1 win!

In a game where the refs' whistles went shockingly silent, the Oilers playing well wasn't enough - as the Panthers played perfectly.

Sam Reinhart's historic hat trick (four goals total) is the first in Panthers playoffs history and just the sixth player ever to score four goals in a Stanley Cup Finals game.

Sam Bennett was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy (playoffs MVP) following the big win after leading all players with 15 goals.

So let's recap a Game 6 where the Panthers dominated their way to yet another Stanley Cup!

1st Period

Sam Reinhart got things started for the Panthers just five minutes into Game 6 with what some might consider the best goal of the playoffs!

It's now his fourth straight game scoring a goal and his eighth of the playoffs.

Around five minutes after Reinhart's goal, Evander Kane (Oilers) and Sam Bennett (Panthers) both received penalties to force a 4-on-4 but neither team was able to capitalize on the extra ice space.

Both teams were extremely physical to start off the game, even if it may not have shown on the stat sheet in hits.

Edmonton's aggressive forechecks opened up a lot of opportunities but Florida's stellar defence was consistently denying them - leading to opportunities of their own.

With 46 seconds left in the period after an Evan Bouchard turnover between the blue lines, Florida took advantage right away with a goal from Matthew Tkachuk, his eighth of the playoffs, to go up 2-0.

Florida has outscored Edmonton 14-2 in first periods during these finals, with Edmonton only having the advantage once - in Game 2 when they were up 3-2.

Both teams were dead even in hits (10) and blocked shots (5) heading into the first intermission with just one penalty a piece.

2nd Period

The Oilers came out of the tunnel hot after they had two perfect opportunities in odd man rushes but failed to convert on both of them in back-to-back possessions with McDavid looking to assist on each.

But great defence from Panthers defenceman Gustav Forsling and goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky held their own to keep Edmonton scoreless.

Then in comes Reinhart for his second goal of the game to give the Panthers a commanding 3-0 lead before the final 30 minutes.

Despite outshooting (20-18) and outhitting Florida (23-18) in the first two periods, Edmonton's defense had completely broken down at this point in the game.

They looked completely lost at times, no matter what the stat sheets said.

3rd Period

The Oilers made a name for themselves these playoffs as a team that almost welcomed a comeback opportunity - but that ended in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals.

Edmonton failed to generate any sort of hope in a game that was dominated by the Panthers on both ends of the ice.

After a scoreless first 10 minutes in the third period, Edmonton couldn't muster up a single goal - leaving Amerant Bank Arena deafening with each passing minute as the win grew closer and closer.

The final nail in the coffin came when Reinhart put one in the empty net to go up 4-0 and complete the hat trick en route to a Panthers second straight Stanley Cup celebration - then he added just one more empty netter for his fourth because why not? It's a party in Sunrise, Florida!

Edmonton's Vasily Podkolzin scored a goal with under five minutes left for the Oilers' lone goal of the game but there was nothing left to celebrate about - the game had been lost.
