Long-time Arizona Coyotes forward Christian Fischer (28) has officially announced his retirement after nine seasons in the NHL.

Fischer was drafted 32nd overall in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Coyotes (now the Utah Mammoth), where he spent the first seven years of his career.

After spending a year with the Detroit Red Wings (2023-2024) following his departure from Arizona, Fischer would be claimed off waivers by the Columbus Blue Jackets this past season - playing in only one game for his new and final team.

Over the course of his career, Fischer posted a total of 62 goals and 75 assists in 523 games, with his career-high in both stats (15/18) being posted in his second season with the Coyotes.

"If you told me that when I was 10 years old, 'You're going to play 500 games in the NHL,' I would be the happiest kid you’ve ever seen." said Fischer when talking to The Athletic. "

Fischer would go on to explain how he believed he could undoubtedly play into his mid-30s, but spending that time with friends and family while pursuing other business routes was something that meant more to him.
