Denmark lost their second game at the Golden League tournament in Holland when they were beaten by the Dutch hosts 33-31 in a disappointing performance for the Danes.

The defeat wasn't really a big surprise. While Denmark have left the vast majority of profiles at home, Holland have fielded a powerful team for the Golden League event at home.

That was very evident from the start of the match as the Danish defense was not at all sufficiently coordinated to withstand the Dutch pressure and especially right winger Kelly Vollebregt was strongly instrumental in giving the hosts a 16-10 during the first half.

Towards the end of the first half, the Dutch hosts rested slightly on their laurels allowing Denmark to close the gap, so the two sides went in for the interval with the hosts leading 17-14.

That trend continued after the break. Denmark did their best to keep up but once the Dutch upped the pace, the visitors were basically helpless.

There were some uncertainty as to what the score actually was during the second half as the referee's table did not really have control over the scoreboard, which was not updated as it should have been.

Nevertheless Danish interim coach Lars Jørgensen was in any case dissatisfied with what he saw on the court and he took repeated timeouts to underline that the Danish performance was too sloppy.

Denmark will face Poland Sunday in their last game in the tournament.
