Ferran Torres seeking move away from Barcelona as links to PSG continue

Ferran Torres appears increasingly likely to leave Barcelona this summer, although this time the impetus is coming from the player rather than the club.

The Spain international believes his long-term prospects are brighter at Paris Saint-Germain, with Barcelona continuing to strengthen in his position.

Despite not being a regular starter, the 26-year-old has established himself as one of Spain's standout performers at the World Cup, mirroring the impact he has often made at Barca.

While his performances have generally been impressive, he has struggled to secure a consistent place in the starting XI, and there is growing belief that he is ready for a fresh challenge.

Barcelona's well-documented financial problems have seen Torres linked with an exit in successive transfer windows, but he has consistently rejected the prospect of leaving Camp Nou. That stance now appears to have changed.

Although Robert Lewandowski has departed, Torres is under no illusion that the club intend to invest heavily in a new striker, with Julian Alvarez identified as their preferred target. Any deal is expected to exceed 100 million euros (£85.2m), making it clear that whoever arrives would become Hansi Flick's first choice.

Competition elsewhere in the attack is equally fierce. Lamine Yamal is firmly established on the right wing, while Anthony Gordon, signed in a deal worth an initial 70 million euros plus a further 10 million euros in add-ons, is expected to start on the left.

Karim Adeyemi, another player admired by Flick, remains a target, while Barcelona have yet to abandon their interest in Marcus Rashford. Roony Bardghji is also part of the squad. In those circumstances, Torres could find himself as low as fifth in the attacking pecking order.

That situation has alerted PSG. Luis Enrique, who worked closely with Torres during his time in charge of Spain, is keen to add a forward capable of playing across the front three. Torres is understood to be receptive to the move.

Barcelona are not expected to block his departure, particularly with his contract entering its final year. However, the club are prepared to take a firm stance over the transfer fee and will demand at least 50 million euros (£42.6m).

Whether PSG are willing to meet that valuation remains to be seen. Although the French champions have the financial resources to do so, they have become increasingly disciplined in the transfer market and are reluctant to overpay.

With Torres able to leave on a free transfer in 12 months, Barcelona also face the risk of losing him without receiving a fee if no agreement can be reached this summer.
