FA Cup semi-finals

Four teams head to Wembley this weekend, all looking to book their place in the FA Cup final at the end of May.

One team of the four know what this feels like more than most, as Manchester City head to the capital once again to face Championship side Southampton on Saturday at 18:15 CET.

City will, of course, be overwhelming favourites against second-tier opposition, having stormed back into the Premier League title equation, but the Saints have been doing some storming of their own. They dispatched Arsenal in the quarter-finals as part of a 20-game unbeaten run, which has put them back into contention for promotion this season.

Southampton have only won the FA Cup once in their history. That was 50 years ago, when they beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final. That season, they were a second division side. Are the stars aligning once more for the South Coast club?

In the other semi-final on Sunday, managerless Chelsea take on Leeds United. It has been a chaotic week for the Blues.

Their goalless losing streak continued in midweek, seeing Liam Rosenior out of a job, and they now face a Leeds side who are almost certain of safety in the Premier League.

Now able to play with freedom in the cup, Leeds will be sniffing the blood in the water against a rudderless Chelsea.

This semi is far more unpredictable, but Chelsea know that unless results turn around, this will be their best shot at European football next year - a damning statement given they are the reigning Club World Cup champions.

Both semi-finals are set to be sellouts, so expect dazzling atmospheres and maybe a cup upset or two.

UEFA Women's Champions League semi-finals/UEFA Women's Europa Cup final

Following the international break, club football is back on the women's side. The end of the season is near, and there is still much to fight for.

Now the attention returns to the continental club competitions, where the UEFA Women's Champions League enters the semi-final stage. As for the UEFA Women's Europa Cup, which is concluding its first-ever season, the final is here.

The maiden showpiece in the new second-tier club competition pits two Swedish sides, BK Hacken and Hammarby, against each other. Saturday will have the first leg at the 3Arena in Stockholm.

Hacken, known as Getingarna (the Wasps), are no strangers to the continental scene. Having knocked off favourites Eintracht Frankfurt last round, they have reached the UWCL quarter-finals thrice, most recently two years ago.

Hammarby, meanwhile, have enjoyed incredible success in their second campaign participating in continental football. With two league and four cup titles to their name, this would be easily their greatest capture.

In the UWCL, Bayern Munich host Barcelona in the first leg of their semi. Both teams wrapped up their domestic titles in midweek and will now look to add continental glory to conclude their season. Bayern are the only one of the four sides left in the competition looking for their maiden continental trophy.

They meet a Barca side who gave them a 7-1 beating in the league phase. Blaugrana are the only team left not to have lost in this season's competition, having won their last 20 games when they have scored multiple times. They have also reached the last five finals, and if they progress from this tie, they would become the first team to qualify for six UWCL finals in a row.

The other semi-final is a repeat of last year's clash between OL Lyonnes and Arsenal. It is certainly the more eye-catching tie, with the record champions looking for revenge after their second-leg collapse at home last year. After all, they have not missed consecutive finals since 2014/15.

Arsenal have come alive in the UWCL, having had a poor start to the league phase. Their loss to Chelsea in the quarter-final decider ended a six-game winning streak in the tournament. They will surely be up for it at home as they look to become the fifth different team to successfully defend their title.

John Higgins vs Ronnie O'Sullivan - 20:00 CET

The headline last-16 tie at the World Snooker Championship sees seven-time winner Ronnie O’Sullivan take on familiar foe John Higgins in a clash between two of the sport’s greatest ever players.

It’s a match no snooker fan will want to miss, and the latest instalment in what’s been a remarkable rivalry spanning over three decades. The pair have met a staggering 79 times before, with O’Sullivan edging the head-to-head record 41-35.

‘The Rocket’ is on the hunt for a record eighth world title, which could take him clear of Stephen Hendry, while Higgins - a four-time world champion himself - is targeting a first Triple Crown success since 2011.

O’Sullivan was at his imperious best in the opening round to dismantle China’s Guoqiang He for the loss of just two frames, but he’ll need to raise his level even higher against ‘The Wizard of Wishaw’, who saw off the tricky challenge of former finalist Ali Carter on Monday.

The match between two of snooker’s fabled ‘Class of 92’ begins on Saturday evening in what promises to be an effervescent Crucible Theatre. Make sure you tune in!

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Ottawa Senators, Game 4 of Stanley Cup Playoffs  - 21:00 CET

The Carolina Hurricanes have a chance to become the first team of the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs to sweep their way into the second round.

Goaltender Frederik Andersen has been on a tear these playoffs, joining Philadelphia Flyers' Dan Vladar and Colorado Avalanche's Scott Wedgewood as the only three to not allow more than two goals in each of their first three playoff games this year.

Andersen is currently boasting a jaw-dropping .964 save percentage and 0.84 goals against average, along with one shutout, in these playoffs.

Teammate Logan Stankoven became just the second player in NHL history to score the opening goal in each of the team's first three games of the playoffs, joining George Armstrong (Toronto Maple Leafs - 1956).

As for the Ottawa Senators, they'll do everything they can to claw their way back to avoid a second straight season of being bounced in the first round. However, teams that start the first round on the road are 3-152 all-time after going down 3-0 in the series.

The Sens had multiple chances to win Game 3 but couldn't get anything done, putting all but the final nail into their own coffin for the season as Game 4 remains their last line of hope to stay alive.

Galatasaray vs Fenerbahce - 19:00 CET

One of the fiercest and most competitive games in world football takes place this Sunday, as Istanbul rivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce go ahead in the Intercontinental Derby, which is also potentially a title decider.

Galatasaray are currently four points clear at the summit of the Super Lig with four games to go, and are on course for a fourth-straight Super Lig title. The only other team to win four in a row were Galatasaray themselves between 1996 and 2000.

Fenerbahce are still desperately trying to get their hands on the trophy, though. They have been on a long, barren run without the title, with their last triumph coming in 2014. An unacceptable wait for one of the biggest clubs in Turkey, and three consecutive runner-up finishes to Galatasaray has only made the pain worse.

They head to the home of their rivals, knowing that they have to win to realistically stay in the race - a draw won't do. Galatasaray won't be playing for a point, though, as they will want to deliver the final dagger to Fenerbahce's hopes in front of a raucous crowd.

Both teams were knocked out in the Turkish Cup in the middle of the week. But truthfully, all eyes will have been on this match. The good news for Galatasaray is that they will have Victor Osimhen back in the starting XI after recovering from injury, while the status of Fenerbahce's star man, Marco Asensio, is slightly more unclear.

It is a truly gargantuan game with so much at stake. It is going to be fiery, it is going to be feisty, and it could seriously shape the destination of this year's Super Lig trophy.
