Gardner sustained the injury just two plays into the game. MRI tests revealed his calf strain, instead of an Achilles injury that the team originally feared.
The 25-year-old two-time All-Pro corner was on the sidelines for the rest of the game in a boot to cheer on his teammates, but will unfortunately be out for the near future as the Colts are in a hot race for the AFC South division title.
Gardner was acquired at the trade deadline in a deal that sent a pair of first-round picks and wide receiver Adonai Mitchell to the New York Jets.
In three games with the Colts, Gardner has posted 13 tackles, two pass deflections, and has given up just 38 yards on five receptions (10 targets). Opposing quarterbacks have just a 59.6 passer rating when throwing to Gardner this season since joining the Colts.
Indy is currently 8-4 on the year and lost control of the division this past weekend to the Jacksonville Jaguars (8-4), who have the better conference record at 5-2, giving them the top spot.
