Wattenberg's new deal includes $27 million in guaranteed money. The former fifth-round pick will now be franchise quarterback Bo Nix's centre for the foreseeable future.
The 28-year-old has allowed zero sacks, one quarterback hit, and 10 pressures on 459 pass-blocking snaps this season. His eight penalties this season already surpassed his career high of seven last season, but is still rated in the top 15 of all centres in both run-blocking and pass-blocking grades.
After being selected 171st overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, the Broncos began developing Wattenberg in his first two seasons before officially making him the full-time starter in 2023.
Now, after an impressive first 11 games under centre this season, Wattenberg became the latest Broncos player to receive a nice contract extension.
The others include wide receiver Courtland Sutton (four years, $92 million), Nik Bonito (four years, $102 million base), Zac Allen (four years, $102 million base), and kicker Wil Lutz (three years, $22.1 million).
Denver currently possess a 9-2 record and sit atop the AFC West division. They're currently riding an eight-game win streak and will be gearing up for their next game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, November 30th.
