Leeds United struck a last-gasp equaliser to draw 2-2 with AFC Bournemouth in the Premier League (PL), making it back-to-back H2H draws after none of the sides’ previous 10 meetings had gone without a victor.

Both teams brought plenty of intensity to the early stages, but the hosts looked more likely to create openings in front of goal, as Alex Scott came agonisingly close to picking out David Brooks in the box and Evanilson sent an improvised effort wide.

The two defences did a solid job of heading away any balls into the box, with James Hill’s long throws asking questions of the visitors but ultimately coming to nothing.

The game’s first shot on target eventually arrived in the 32nd minute but was inconsequential, as Adrien Truffert’s speculative right-footed effort from outside the box lacked conviction and was routinely saved.

It wasn’t too long until Leeds had their first, as Brenden Aaronson danced away from two Cherries defenders, only to be denied by Đorđe Petrović

Bournemouth then came painfully close before the break as Brooks’ shot on the slide was stopped by Karl Darlow’s outstretched boot and Marcus Tavernier sent his follow-up wide.

There was a scare for Leeds shortly after the restart as Pascal Struijk glanced Scott’s free-kick agonisingly past the post, before the Cherries midfielder blazed a shot far more convincingly off-target.

Struijk then threw himself in front of Ryan Christie’s attempt to deflect it behind as Andoni Iraola’s side stepped up the pressure, which finally told on the hour mark.

Marcos Senesi won the ball in the middle before stepping away from Gabriel Gudmundsson and striding up the pitch to slide a pass through for Kroupi, whose finish took a deflection off Joe Rodon on its way past Darlow.

Noah Okafor then hit the post, but Leeds still secured a swift equaliser, as a long throw wasn’t dealt with and Hill diverted Gnonto’s drilled ball into his own net.

Rayan saw a strike palmed away shortly after his introduction, but not to be denied, the Brazilian provided an instinctive finish to guide fellow substitute Tyler Adams’ cross inside the post in the 86th minute.

After Evanilson’s goal was ruled out, Bournemouth suffered more disappointment with Sean Longstaff striking in the 97th minute to force the Cherries to settle for a draw, which still extends their club-record PL unbeaten run to 14 matches and takes them above Chelsea.

The result takes Leeds’ own streak without a loss to seven games across all competitions, which also ensures the Whites travel to Wembley Stadium for their FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea in the knowledge that they have reached 40 PL points.
