The Oklahoma City Thunder acquired center Daniel Theis (32) and a 2031 second-round pick in a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans ahead of Thursday's deadline.

The Pelicans received cash considerations as part of the deal.

Theis is averaging 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds in 38 games this season for the Pelicans. The veteran from Germany will now be on his seventh team in eight years.

Theis was part of the 2023 German basketball team that took home their first Gold Medal in FIBA World Cup history.

The Thunder brought over Theis as a means to hold the team over until young star Chet Holmgren returns from his hip fracture injury.

His return could be in the near future after he was scene at the beginning of the month shooting around with the team.
