The announcement of the pitching staffs come three days after the players for the other positions were confirmed.
Among the 13 pitchers named for the National League, 10 different teams are represented. The San Francisco Giants lead the way with three different players: Robby Ray, Randy Rodriguez, and Logan Webb. The LA Dodgers are the only other side with multiple players making the cut.
Clayton Kershaw was selected as a legendary pick, honouring the left-handed pitcher's career. It will be the 11th time that he will appear in an All-Star Game. Team-mate Yoshinobu Yamamoto is also part of the team.
The other players chosen for the NL are: Jason Adam (San Diego Padres), Matthew Boyd (Chicago Cubs), Edwin Diaz (New York Mets), Mackenzie Gore (Washington Nationals), Freddy Peralta (Milwaukee Brewers), Chris Sale (Arizona Diamondbacks), Paul Skeens (Pittsburgh Pirates), and Zack Wheeler (Philadelphia Phillies).
As for the American League, their pitching staff for the All-Star Game features 12 players from nine different sides. The Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, and Boston Red Sox all have two players each.
A notable inclusion for the team is Shane Smith from the Chicago White Sox, who becomes second Rule 5 player in MLB history to make the All-Star team.
The Astros' pair to make it to the All-Star match are Hunter Brown and Josh Hader, while the Red Sox are represented by Arlodis Chapman and Garrett Crochet. Seattle's pair include Andress Munoz and Bryan Woo. Kris Bubic (Kansas City Royals), Jacbo DeGrom (Texas Rangers), Max Fried (New York Yankees), Yusei Kikuchi (Los Angeles Angels), and Cy Young favourite Tarik Skubal (Detroit Tigers) to head the pack.
Along with the 25 pitchers already selected, the reserve players were also announced. Only the Diamondbacks have multiple reserve players on the NL side, with Corbin Carroll and Eugenio Suarez chosen.
For the AL, the 11 players picked as reserves hail from 11 different teams. The three teams who had multiple players in their staff - the Astros, Mariners, and Red Sox - have also have someone on the reserve roster.
The 95th MLB All-Star game will take place on July 15th at Truist Park in Cumberland, Georgia.
