San Diego Padres star third baseman Manny Machado (32) reached 2,000 career hits during Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Machado's 2,000th hit was an in-field single off of Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zac Gallen in the bottom of the fourth inning of Monday night's game

The former third overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft is now the only active third baseman in all of baseball with at least 2,000 hits and has a very high chance of surpassing Hall of Famer Scott Rolen (2,077) at some point this season.

Miami's own has been great as usual for the Padres this season, slashing .290/.353/.475 with 14 home runs and 52 RBI.

Machado made his MLB debut in 2012 at the age of 19 for the Baltimore Orioles - where he spent the next seven-and-a-half years of his career, earning four All-Star selections and two Gold Glove awards, including a Platinum Glove (2013).

In 2018, Machado was dealt in a blockbuster trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he would spend the rest of the season before testing free agency - where he would eventually join his current team in the Padres.

Machado signed a massive 10-year, $300 million contract in 2019 with the Padres before signing a brand new extension in 2023 that would keep him on the Padres until 2033 with a $350 million payout.

Since joining San Diego, Machado has gone on to earn three more All-Star selections (including this season) and two Silver Sluggers (2020, 2024).
