The New York Yankees signed starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco (37) to a minor league deal on Monday with an invitation to spring training, according

Carrasco, more or less at the end of his career, went 3-10 with a 5.64 ERA last year with the Cleveland Guardians. It was a season far removed from the 2014-2018 stretch where Carrasco was one of the best starting pitchers in baseball.

The veteran will be entering his 16th season if he plays on a roster this year. The former Roberto Clemente award-winning has only pitched over 100 innings in two (2024, 2022) of the past six years.

The first seven years of his career were spent with Cleveland before he landed in the New York Mets rotations from 2021-2023 before eventually making his return to the Guardians for another year.

He has a 110-103 career record and a 4.14 ERA. In 2018, he set a career-high with 231 strikeouts and two complete games. In 2019, Carrasco was just one strike away from a no-hitter.
