Joe Buck (55) is set to return to the national MLB broadcast booth this upcoming season for the first time since 2021 as he will step in as the play-by-play announcer for the matchup between the New York Yankees and Milwaukee Brewers on Opening Day.

The game is set to begin on March 27th at 3 p.m. Eastern time.

"Opening Day has always been a signature day on the sports calendar and, personally, it remains special," said Buck. "ESPN approached me with this one-off opportunity to help launch the season and it was a quick ‘yes.' Joe and Bill are both great friends and better baseball minds and I know they will carry the telecast, while I just plan to be along for the ride."

Buck isn't under contract to call the entire season so this may be a one-time situation. However, he joined St. Louis Cardinals local broadcaster Chip Caray for a game last season that was eventually postponed due to rain.

But as long as Buck is the main go-to guy for ESPN's Monday Night Football, nobody knows if the future Hall of Fame broadcaster will make a full return to baseball.

Buck's last call, or so we thought, came during the 2021 World Series between the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros. But the legend now makes his return to the sport that he spent 26 years of his career dedicated to.

Buck called 24 straight World Series, 22 of them in a row from 2000 to 2021, along with 22 All-Star games.

Former Yankees manager Joe Girardi and Brewers lead color analyst Bill Schroeder will join Buck in the booth for Opening Day.

"Joe Buck is synonymous with Major League Baseball and his presence in the booth will be an incredible addition to our Opening Day coverage," said ESPN's President of Content Burke Magnus. "We appreciate Joe, as well as Joe Girardi and Bill Schroeder, for agreeing to get together for this special broadcast."
