The Houston Astros and relief pitcher Miguel Castro (30) have agreed to a minor league deal worth up to $1.5 million, plus performance incentives, according to MLB insiders Jon Heyman and Ari Alexander.
Castro will be entering his 11th year in the MLB with now his seventh different team. The righty posted a 5.93 ERA last season with the Arizona Diamondbacks in just 13 appearances after dealing with right shoulder inflammation, which kept him out for most of the 2024 season.
In 2023, Castro set a career-high by pitching in 74 games for the D'Backs, throwing a sub-par 4.31 ERA in 64.2 innings while giving up 51 hits and 20 walks and striking out 60 batters.
Castro previously played for the New York Yankees (2022), New York Mets (2020-2021), Baltimore Orioles (2017-2020), Colorado Rockies (2015-2016), and Toronto Blue Jays (2015).
The veteran has a career 4.20 ERA and a 22-28 record in 419 games.
