Moran will take up the 39th spot on the Red Sox 40-man man roster.
The former seventh-round pick in the 2015 MLB Draft will enter his fifth season after spending his first four with the Twins, missing the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery.
Moran had a down year compared to 2022. In 2023, he threw a 5.31 ERA last season in 43 games and gave up 35 hits and 27 walks in 42.1 innings while striking out 48 batters.
Despite a rough season the last he saw the field, Moran was one of the Twins' top relievers in 2022 throwing a 2.21 ERA in 31 games, giving up just 25 hits and 18 walks in 40.2 innings while striking out 54 batters.
Moran now marks the third major pitching move for the Red Sox this offseason after acquiring former Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Garrett Crochet via trade and signing former Los Angeles Dodgers starter Walker Buehler to a one-year, $21.05 million deal.
Gasper only saw 18 plate appearances last season for the Red Sox, failing to record a single hit. That being said, the former 27th-round pick in the 2018 MLB Drfat had a solid season in the Red Sox minor league system.
Gasper slashed an impressive .328/.440/.531/.970 with 12 home runs and 58 RBI between AAA and AA ball. His dynamic defence is also something to take note of.
In 2024 during his time in the minors, Gasper played a total of 38 games at first base (.993 fielding percentage), 36 at catcher (.989 fielding percentage), four at second base (1.000 fielding percentage), and one at third base (1.000 fielding percentage).
However, he only threw out 17 percent (11/55) of base stealers last year.
