The Milwaukee Brewers and catcher William Contreras (27) agreed to a one-year deal worth $6.1 million on Friday to avoid arbitration.

The deal includes a $12 million club option, or a $100,000 buyout, for 2026. Contreras spent the past two seasons with the Brewers and is coming off a year where he hit 23 home runs and 92 RBI (both career-highs).

He slashed an impressive .281/.365/.466/.831 last season, leading to another Silver Slugger award in back-to-back seasons as the Brewers catcher. Contreras spent the first three seasons of his career with the Atlanta Braves but has emerged as a star for the Brew Crew.

William is the younger brother of St. Louis Cardinals catcher and three-time All-Star World Series champion Willson Contreras (32), who will be entering his 10th season.

Milwaukee won the NL Central this past season with a 93-69 record but ultimately lost to the New York Mets in the Wild Card round of the postseason.
