Washington Commanders star wide receiver Terry McLaurin (29) was absent from the team's first day of training camp on Tuesday.

Every other player on the Commanders showed up for the first day and the team's conditioning test. McLaurin will be fined $50,000 each day he doesn't report to training camp.

McLaurin voiced his unhappiness in the team's efforts to give him a new contract. However, he wants to remain a Commander.

"I want to be here," said McLaurin. "I want to make that abundantly clear."

In 2022, the team signed him to a three-year, $68.3 million extension that is up after this upcoming year.

The two-time Pro Bowler and 2024 Second Team All-Pro selection has put up five straight seasons of at least 1,000 yards.

This past season, McLaurin put up a career-high 13 receiving touchdowns, which ranked second-most in the league behind Ja'Marr Chase's 17.

Commanders general manager Adam Peters said on Tuesday, "We're going to do everything we can in order to get a deal done."

The team is hopeful to get a deal done, but McLaurin's patience seems to be wearing thin as of late. The star wide receiver has shown in every way that he deserves a new contract.

Washington made it to the NFC Championship game this past season, ultimately losing to the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles
