The NFL transaction wire announced that the league has suspended free agent safety Tracy Walker III for 12 games this upcoming season.

However, no specific reason was stated as to why Walker was suspended. If a team signs him, Walker will not be able to play until Week 13.

Walker hasn't played a regular-season game in the NFL since 2023. The former third-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft played all six seasons of his career with the Detroit Lions.

He signed a three-year, $25 million contract extension with Detroit in 2022 that had him on the team through 2024. But the Lions released him prior to the start of the season in order to create $5.5 million in cap space.

In six years, Walker racked up 398 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, seven quarterback hits, 23 pass deflections, three interceptions, and one sack in 79 games (43 starts).

In 2019, Walker posted the best pass-rush grade of all 167 qualified safeties in the NFL with a 90.4.

He's made headlines a few times for his hard hits on the field, including the one shown below on Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts during the 2022 season - the same year Walker tore his Achilles.

Another time was during the following season when Walker laid out Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin, who got up right away, completely fine.

However, Walker was still flagged for the hit.
