Now former Cal quarterback Fernando Mendoza (21) is transferring to Indiana, looking to be the Hoosiers' next starter.

Mendoza will be heading to an Indiana team coming off a historic year that fell short after losing to Notre Dame in the College Football Playoffs.

The former Golden Bear will compete for the starting job now that Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke (senior) will be leaving for the 2025 NFL Draft.

Mendoza threw for 3,004 yards and 16 touchdowns with six interceptions last season for the Golden Bears. He finished his sophomore year with a 144.6 passer rating and a 64.2 QBR that ranked 52nd in the nation.

The Miami, Florida native will now be joining his brother, Alberto, in Indiana as both quarterback brothers will look to lead Indiana back to the CFP in 2025.

Indiana has been reloading their offence through the transfer portal after their season came to an abrupt end by also acquiring Maryland starting runningback Roman Hemby on Monday
